I Won a Ribbon!

I mentioned last week that I am in a second show  in addition to Selections 2012.  It is now official- “Fungus Adventure” is in the Arteast Juried Awards Exhibition (AJAE).  The exhibit is located at the St. Laurent Complex, 525 Cote Street in Ottawa.  My piece is located in the glass cabinet at the end of the hall with a couple of other pieces.  There are also approximately 40 pieces hanging on the walls of the main hallway.

To top it all off, when I stopped by to see the exhibit today I discovered that I had won an award- Second Place in my category!!  My first award so I’m quite thrilled!

The exhibit is on now until November 29th, 2012.

I’m hoping there will be a poster created for the exhibit with some more details and if so I will post it here!

Selections 2012: Vernissage

Last night was the Vernissage for the Selections 2012 Art Show at the Shenkman Arts Centre in Ottawa.  There was a large group of people in attendance again this year.

The show features the works of  51 artists and is quite an interesting mix.  There is definitely something there for everyone:  paintings, fibre, sculpture, photography, mixed media etc.  I thought it was particularly well laid out too- for example my piece blended really well with the size and colours of the two pieces beside it and with the colours of the sculpture in front of it.

I let my daughter get dressed up and come to the party since we were only staying for a short while.  The highlight for her I think was the food table.  She consumed a lot of cheese in a short amount of time.  You can do that at an art show when you are five and it doesn’t look bad.

If you are in the area come and check out the show.  It is open every day from 9 am to 10 pm and runs until October 23rd.  There is also voting for the Viewer’s Choice Award so be sure to vote too!

Enjoy your weekend!

Oh Baby!

This past weekend was my Baby Shower!

Even though it was pouring rain outside, myself and 8 of my nearest and dearest (too bad my sister lives so far away) enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea at the Chateau Laurier in downtown Ottawa.  It was a great afternoon with a lovely group of ladies!

I was spoiled and pampered.  I feel fortunate to have such a great bunch of friends.

Thanks everyone for the fabulous time and to S. for organizing it!

Add six bags of firewood burned.

Plus a beach, a canoe, non-stop sunshine, three skunks and a 34 week pregnant lady who laughed so hard that tears ran down my face and my gut still hurts

= a fun-filled weekend with lots of memories made and good times shared.

Can’t wait until next year!
