Sad News

I just realized that I haven’t posted in awhile.  Myself and the Little Miss were felled by the flu this week (my second time in two and a half weeks- ugh!) and while she bounced back I am slowly on the mend.

On Wednesday we also lost a special friend- our cat Whippet (who we affectionately called “Whip” or “Whippy”).  She was almost 13 years old and has been with us for ten years and was very much a part of our family.   She was diagnosed with mouth cancer late last year and we tried absolutely everything we could to prolong her life and improve her quality of life but the time came for us to make the decision to end her suffering.  My husband was there by her side so she wasn’t alone.  We miss her tons already- she was always a very good cat and it is hard to believe that she is gone.

Pretty in Pink

Here is another custom order that I just finished up for a little girl’s bedroom.  This tree pillow is quite similar to the “Button Tree Pillow” of my daughter but has been personalized for the little girl who now calls this one hers.  The new version is 12 ” square and is hand-hooked on burlap.  The tree is made from 100% merino wool felt which was then sewn onto the pillow.  My overflowing button jar once again came in handy for the selection of buttons on the tree- including a cute little “G” button for its new owner’s name.  Love the girly pinkness of this pillow-so fun to make!

Teal Petite Pillow

Here is a custom petite pillow that I just finished up recently.  The customer wanted a teal and chocolate brown combo to go with their living room decor.  I’ve always loved how these two colours go together and really like how the pillow turned out.  The teal has a slight sparkle to it which really sets off the prodded flower.  In a bit of a twist I decided to use a button that I came across in my overflowing button jar for the center of the flower instead of hooking it.  The pillow measures 8″ x 8″.

Although I am not making anymore petite pillows for the store, I still have several different colours in stock and I am still making new ones on a custom order basis and can make them in any colour combination to suit your decor!

Woodland Window Display!

My rug, “Chickadee & Birch Tree” is going to be a part of the CPAWS Woodland Window Display at Wabi Sabi in downtown Ottawa for Earth Day.  The display will run for the month of April and will feature all sorts of Ontario creatures and plants, hand-crafted by local crafters out of wool and other fibres.  Look here for more details!

Another project off the list…..

I told the Little Miss I would make curtains for her room.  She picked out fabric that she liked, I ordered it, and it sat there.  That was last Spring.  Life got in the way- playdates, Birthday parties, art shows, art exhibitions.   But I promised her by Christmas for sure.  And before Christmas, I got them done.  She loves them and I think they turned out pretty cute!

One more thing off the to-do list….
